We haven't been geocaching since last fall. The closest we came was a failed attempt a few weeks ago, but it hardly counts. However, it seems that Geocaching will find us after a while. Let me explain...
Two weekends ago, some youth from the church and I went on a Backpacking trip through Algonquin park. We didn't go that far in, just 5 or 6 km, and it was an awesome trip. The crazy part though, was that we found a geocache! This cache isn't on the geocaching.com website, it may be on another site, which I'm not going to bother signing up for another site to log it, but it was there.
We were camping at Guskewau lake, on the Western Uplands trail. It was a decent hike, and we were just roaming around the different camp sites, looking for a good one to choose (it w
Ben4377 opened it up, and it did look like it was filled with garbage. As we started rummaging through thecontents though, we realized that some items weren't that bad, and there were even some that would be good exchangeable items. Sure enough, Shoolie came across a cache log! as winter camping, so there was no one else there). In one of the campsites we stumbled upon an ammo can. I immediately thought that someone was just dumpling garbage, didn't want to bury it, so they decided to put it in an ammo can and leave it.
Actually realizing it was a geocache was pretty cool. I'm not going to lie, I didn't believe it until we found the log book. It seemed so weird to just stumble upon a cache in the middle of the wilderness. Nonetheless, it has inspired me. With the weather getting warmer, I think this calls for geocaching adventures!
I'll send up some more pics of the adventure, and keep you updated if we have any adventures!
